Awesome guide to loosening tight shoes and making them more comfortable

Have you ever been overjoyed to find the perfect pair of shoes, only to be bitterly disappointed when they turn out to be too tight and almost impossible to walk in? Many of us at GurusTech have found ourselves in this situation, and we decided it was time to resolve it once and for all.
Here are six highly effective ways to make new shoes more comfortable to wear. Now there’s no need to return anything to the store ever again!

Break them in

Sometimes the simplest methods are the best. No one wants to risk stepping outside in new shoes that don’t quite fit. Wearing new shoes around the house initially helps to relax the fabric or leather that they’re made from, in turn making them more comfortable for when you do finally decide to wear them out and about.

Use a spray

There’s now a special spray that you can buy which is designed to relax leather and make it more malleable. Once you’ve applied it, insert a shoe stretcher into your shoe and twist the mechanical rod. This will help to slowly increase your new shoes’ length and width without damaging them.

Wear a pair of socks

It sounds crazily simple, but it actually works. If you’re sporting a pair of too-snug heels, a pair of socks may be just what you need to stretch them into shape. Choose something thick, and walk around like that for just a little while.

Freeze your shoes

First, stuff your shoes with tightly sealed bags of water (and really make sure they are sealed tightly — repairing water damage to your shoes is much harder than stretching them). Now place them in the freezer until the water bags are completely frozen. Leave them for a short period to thaw, then remove the ice bags. The material of your shoes should stretch a bit more than before. See the instructions here.

Heat your shoes

This tip is a bit more user-friendly and doesn’t involve waiting overnight for bags of water to freeze. First, put on a pair of thick socks, and then put on your shoes. Blast your shoes with hot air from a hair dryer for about two minutes while flexing your toes and feet to stretch the tight areas. Keep the socks and shoes on until the leather cools. Test out the shoes without socks, and repeat if necessary until they’re comfortable. This method should result in a better fitting, more comfortable pair of shoes. Find out more here.

Visit a cobbler

While you shouldn’t buy shoes specifically with the intention of repairing them, sometimes professional help is the only solution. A cobbler can alter the fit of your shoes with a stretching machine, either by length or width.
